Jodhpur is the second largest city of Rajasthan. It was founded by Rao Jodha in 1459. Jodhpur known as "The Sun City" due to its bright and sunny weather and also called the "Blue City" due to the vivid blue-painted houses around the Mehrangarh Fort. Umaid Bhawan Palace :

Umaid Bhawan Palace, located at Jodhpur in Rajasthan. It is one of the largest private residences in world. It was actually built with the purpose of giving employment to the people of Jodhpur during a long drawn famine. A part of the Palace is now converted into the Luxury Hotel managed by the most prestigious chain of Hotel, The Taj. The Palace is divided into three functional parts - a luxury Taj Palace Hotel, the residence of the erstwhile royal family, and a Museum focusing on the 20th century history of the Jodhpur Royal Family.

Mehrangarh Fort :

Mehrangarh fort is one of the biggest forts of Rajasthan, situated on a steep hill. Mehrangarh fort was built by Maharaja Man Singh. It spreading over 5 km on a perpendicular hill and looking down 125 meters, presents a majestic view on city horizon. The Fort has seven gates and has the museum which is one of the best well-stocked museums in Rajasthan which exhibits the heritage of the Rathores in arms, costumes, paintings and decorated period rooms. This Fort is one of the best in India with its exquisitely latticed windows, carved panels, elaborately adorned windows and walls of Moti Mahal, Phool Mahal, Sheesh Mahal.

Rai-ka-Bag Palace :

The Rai ka Bag Palace is another tourist attraction in Jodhpur. The queen of Maharaja Jaswant Singh-I, Hadiji, built this palace. It is located near the Raika Bag palace railway station. Rai Ka Bag palace was constructed in 1663. It was amongst the favorite palaces of King Jaswant Singh-II. He mostly stayed in the octagonal bunglow of this palace. In 1883when Swami Dayanand Saraswati came to Jodhpur, his sermons were arranged for the public in the public ground of this palace. Even Jaswant Singh used to listen to Swami Dayanand in this palace only. At present the palace houses the income-tax office.

Jaswant Thada :

Jaswant Thada, white marble memorial is an architectural landmark. It was built by Sardar Singh in 1899 in memory of Maharaja Jaswant Singh. The cenotaph of Maharaja Jaswant Singh holds the rare portraits of the rulers and Maharajas of Jodhpur. Jaswant Thada is the traditional cremation ground of Jodhpur rulers with multi-tiered gardens and having a small lake. The main memorial has been built like a temple. To visit the Thada you have to go through the rocky hills. This also lends a mystic aura to the whole visit. Do make sure to visit this architectural delight while on a tour to Jodhpur, Rajasthan.

By Flight :

Jodhpur Airport is one of the prominent airport just 5 km from the city center. Regular flight services connect the city with other major cities in and around Rajasthan. There are daily flights to Delhi, Mumbai, Udaipur and Jaipur. It was primarily constructed as an Air Force base because of its important strategic location. It is the most powerful air base in South Asia.

By Train :

Jodhpur city is very also well connected with Road. The main highway between Jodhpur and Jaisalmer is via Agoli and Pokaran. The highway is well connected with Agra, Ahmedabad, Ajmer, Delhi, Jaipur, Jaisalmer and Udaipur by bus.
